Welcome to Rakaia Island Dairies Our aim with this site is to provide visitors with an overview of the operation. Over the last few years, Rakaia Island has experienced major growth, building real scale into the operation. Each season has seen the farm improve, the milking platform increase in area, more cows were added. Infrastructure was improved, more people were employed. Now more than ever, staff are becoming absolutely integral to the smooth operation of the farm. The staffing of Rakaia Island is structured in such a way as to encourage growth for its employees. We work very hard to eliminate what we consider as negative turnover, that is, losing staff for the wrong reasons. More on this subject in another page. To summarise, the prime motivation for this site is to profile the business and to highlight the many positives that a career in dairying can return you.
